Why Google reviews matter

Google reviews are one of the top three ranking factors for local search. More reviews (and higher ratings) mean:

  • Higher position in Google Maps results
  • More clicks to your website
  • More phone calls
  • More trust from potential customers

The best time to ask

The best time to ask for a review is immediately after delivering a great service. The customer is happy, the experience is fresh, and they're most likely to follow through.

How to ask (without being awkward)

In person "I'm really glad you're happy with the work. Would you mind leaving us a quick Google review? It really helps other people find us."

Via text "Hi [Name], thanks for choosing us today. If you have a moment, a Google review would mean a lot: [link]"

On your invoice or receipt Add a QR code linking to your Google review page.

Make it easy

The number one reason people don't leave reviews is friction. Make it as easy as possible:

  1. Get your direct review link from Google Business Profile
  2. Create a short URL or QR code
  3. Put it on business cards, invoices, and your website

How many reviews do you need?

There's no magic number, but businesses with 20+ reviews tend to rank significantly higher in local search than those with fewer than 5. Aim for consistency — 2-3 new reviews per month is a good target.

Always reply to reviews

Google confirms that responding to reviews improves your local ranking. Reply to every review — positive and negative. Keep it genuine and brief.
